Who We Are
The Fun Factor Fun Centre ("we," "us," "our") is a family entertainment centre located in Kamloops, British Columbia. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information when you visit our website at thefunfactor.ca, sign up for notifications, book attractions or parties, or otherwise interact with us online.
We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
What We Collect
We only collect information that we actually use. Specifically:
When you sign up for launch notifications
When you book a laser tag session, party, or other reservation online (when this becomes available)
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your phone number
- Booking details (date, time, party size, game type)
- Payment information (processed by Stripe — we do not store your full credit card number)
When you contact us
- Your name and contact details
- The contents of your message
When you sign a liability waiver
When you sign a liability waiver (online before your visit, or at the in-venue kiosk), we collect and store the waiver directly in our own system at The Fun Factor. The waiver is not sent to a third-party waiver service. We collect:
- Your name and date of birth
- Your email address (used to send you a copy of the signed waiver and to look you up at check-in)
- The names and dates of birth of any minors you are signing for, plus your relationship to them (parent or legal guardian)
- Your digital signature and the date and time the waiver was signed
- Whether you opt in to marketing communications (CASL consent — optional)
When you visit our website
- Standard web analytics data (pages visited, time on site, general location, device type, browser type)
- This is collected through Google Analytics — see "Third-Party Services" below
What we don't collect
- Your full credit card or banking information (handled directly by our payment processor)
- Your home address (we don't need it; we're a venue you visit)
- Your government ID
- Information about your children beyond what you provide for a booking or party
How We Use It
We use your information for these purposes only:
- To provide the service you requested — completing your booking, sending you reservation confirmations, contacting you about your party
- To notify you when laser tag online reservations launch — only if you signed up for that specific list
- To send you marketing communications about The Fun Factor — only if you explicitly opted in
- To improve our website and services — using anonymized analytics data
- To comply with our legal obligations — including tax records, accident reports, and legal requests
We do not sell your information. We do not rent your information. We do not trade it.
Marketing Communications and Consent
If you sign up for our launch notification list or check the marketing consent box during a booking, we may send you:
- Updates about new attractions or services
- Special offers and promotions
- Seasonal announcements (holiday hours, special events)
You can unsubscribe at any time. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email info@thefunfactor.ca and ask to be removed.
After you unsubscribe, we may still send you transactional emails (booking confirmations, reminders, changes to a booking you made) because those are not marketing — they're necessary to deliver the service you requested. CASL allows this.
We keep a record of when you gave consent and when you withdrew it, in case there's ever a question about whether we had permission.
Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted services to operate our website and business. Each one only sees the information it needs to do its job.
- Google Analytics — collects anonymized data about how people use our website (page views, time on site, general device info). We use this to understand which pages are popular and where visitors are coming from. We do not see individual users' identities through Analytics. Google's privacy policy.
- Google Ads — used for advertising and to measure whether our ads are effective. May set cookies on your browser. Google Ads privacy info.
- Stripe — processes payments when you book online. We never see your full credit card number; Stripe handles it directly. Stripe's privacy policy.
- Resend — delivers transactional emails (booking confirmations, notifications). Resend's privacy policy.
- Twilio — delivers SMS messages when you opt in. Twilio's privacy policy.
- Sacoa — our in-venue card and rewards system. If you use a Fun Card, your card balance and game history are stored in Sacoa's system. We do not share Sacoa data with third parties.
- Netlify — hosts our website. They process basic web request data (IP addresses, browser type) for the purpose of delivering the website. Netlify's privacy policy.
- Firebase / Google Cloud — securely stores booking records and customer data. Google Cloud privacy info.
- AI chat assistant — the chat assistant on our website is powered by a third-party service, Ask Benny (askbenny.ca). When you interact with the chat, your messages and any contact information you provide may be collected and processed by Ask Benny and its sub-processors, including OpenAI (for AI response generation) and Amazon Web Services (for data storage). Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and device information may also be collected automatically. This data is used to respond to your inquiries and improve our service. Ask Benny's privacy policy.
How Long We Keep Your Information
- Marketing list signups: until you unsubscribe.
- Booking records (date, time, revenue): retained for accounting purposes, in line with Canadian business record-keeping requirements (typically 6 years).
- Personal contact info attached to bookings (name, email, phone): 2 years after your last visit, then automatically removed. After that, only anonymized booking data remains for our records.
- Waivers: stored securely in our system for approximately 12 months from the date signed. After that, the waiver is considered expired and you will be prompted to re-sign on your next visit. Expired waiver records may be retained for an additional period for liability and accounting purposes, in line with Canadian business record-keeping requirements.
- Website analytics data: typically 14 months in Google Analytics, then automatically deleted.
How We Protect Your Information
We take security seriously, though no system is perfectly secure. Our specific safeguards:
- All data sent between your browser and our website is encrypted using HTTPS.
- Booking and customer data is stored in Google Cloud's Firestore service, which is encrypted at rest.
- Payment data is handled by Stripe; we never receive or store full credit card numbers.
- Access to customer data is restricted to authorized staff who need it to do their jobs.
- Staff accounts use individual passwords (no shared logins) and are removed when staff leave.
If we ever experience a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with PIPEDA's mandatory breach notification requirements.

- Analytics cookies: Google Analytics uses cookies to understand how visitors use the site
- Advertising cookies: Google Ads uses cookies to measure ad effectiveness
You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may break features like online booking.
Your Rights

Children's Privacy
Many of our customers are children. We take this seriously.
- Children under 13 should not provide personal information to our website without a parent or guardian's permission.
- When children attend a party booked by an adult, we use the information only to provide the party (e.g., names on a guest list, parent contact info for emergencies).
- We do not market directly to children.
- Waivers for minors must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
If you believe we have collected information from a child without proper consent, contact us immediately at info@thefunfactor.ca and we will delete it.
